This Valentine’s Day, multi-Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum pop artist Jason Mraz brings his signature sound to the hit television series for preschoolers, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood!  “You Are Special,” an all-new episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood premieres nationally on PBS KIDS, Thursday, February 14 (check local listings).

Children’s television visionary Fred Rogers has long been an inspiration to Mraz, who even performs the theme from the beloved Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood at some of his concerts.  Now, with the upcoming special episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Mraz will help bring Rogers’ timely message of love and acceptance to a new generation of preschoolers and families nationwide!  The world-renowned musician has recorded the opening and closing tunes – “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and “It’s Such a Good Feeling” – classic songs penned and originally performed by Rogers himself.  The (very lovable!) episode also features a sweet strategy for young viewers, one that was near and dear to Rogers’ own heart: “I like you just the way you are.” 
We invite you to share the love and celebrate the important message of this extra-adorable show with the little ones in your life via these fun tips inspired by Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and the new episode, “You Are Special”:
· Make a Valentine!  Help your child create a very special Valentine for a very special someone who is important to them.  It can be a relative, teacher, friend - or another “neighbor” who they care about.  Be sure to include what makes that person so wonderful!· Sing a Song!  Daniel Tiger loves to sing songs!  Have your child write their own lyrics to the classic “You are Special” tune and invite them to sing it to an extra-special friend or relative · Take a Valentine’s Day Walk!  Stroll through your own neighborhood just like Daniel and Dad do together in the new episode, stopping to say “hello” to all the neighbors and friends you meet along the way · Create a “You Are Special” List!  Think about it together and write down some of the unique things that make each family member or friend so special and lovable

Here, we’ll provide somefun, kid-friendly recipes to make “love potions” this Valentine’s Day.BUBBLY PINK LOVEPOTIONKids will love thiseasy to make (and delicious) “love potion!” All you need 1 can of pink lemonadeconcentrate, 4 cups of raspberry sherbet, and 1 can of lemon/lime soda, andwater. All you need to do is mix the lemonade concentrate with the amount ofwater it lists on the instructions in a large pitcher. Then, in a blender,combine the sherbet with 4 cups of the lemonade mixture, and pour about a cupinto individual glasses. Lastly, fill each glass the rest of the way with thesoda – the mixture will bubble and really look like a love potion!LOVE SPELL PERFUMEMaking perfumes athome is actually really easy and can be a fun activity for kids thisValentine’s Day! You need distilled water, fragrance oils (and scent you or thekids want!), and Polysorbate 80. All you have to do is mix your distilled waterwith the Polysorbate 80 in a spray bottle. Then, mix your fragrance oils in aseparate container, and add them to your water mixture; shake vigorously. Usefragrances like rose, lavendar, etc. to really amp up the “love spell” part ofthis perfume!MAGIC SANDUsing a glass bottlewith a cork or lid and different colored sand is a fun way to create a “magicsand” love spell (and it makes for a great decoration)! All you need to do islayer different colors of sand in a glass container (colors like red, pink andwhite work best for V-Day). Before putting the cork or lid on the bottle,invite your kids to say a few words about something or someone that they love –then tell them that once the bottle is sealed, it will represent that person orthing, and to take care of the bottle and keep it close.  LOVE POTION TEAMaking this tea willrequire a little help from mom and dad, but it’s ingredients are rumored tospark feelings of love! You will need rosemary, black tea, thyme, nutmeg, freshmint leaves, fresh rose petals, lemon leaves, and water. Put all of theseingredients in a tea kettle and bring to a boil.
